Colourful Thiya Day ended after sponsoring students and felicitation

Mumbai: Thiya Welfare Association (R.) Mumbai celebrated Thiya Day on 13th November 2011 at Karnataka Sangha’s Vishveshwaraya Hall followed by TWA Annual General Meeting held under the presidentship of Roopesh Rao. The celebration was colourful with various types of dances and cultural programme by the community members and children under the guidance of well-known stage artist Chandravati Vasant.

Sanjay Nirupam MP who was the chief guest of the day felicitated Karnataka Rajyothsava Award Winner, Samaj Samrata Aikala Harish Shetty and Chandrika Harish Shetty on behalf of Thiya Welfare Association. In his speech Sanjay Nirupam said the Karavali Kannadigas are doing a good job in Mumbai by giving the food to the hungry stomach as they are running hotels here. Hon. Gen. Secretary Vicky Bolar welcomed the Chief Guest. Welknown social worker of Thiya Community R. K Suvarna also facilitated by  Sanjay Nirupam.

During this occasion TWA sponsored 5 students from Mangalore who were present and distributed cheques to them. Appreciating the activities of the Association Aikala Harish Shetty said Thiya Welfare Association, Mumbai is helping the poor students and thus doing a right job and he requested the committee to continue the same in the future also.

One of the Guests of Honour on dais Asha Hegde, Chairperson of Bunts Sangh Mumbai, Ladies Wing,  requested more and more Lades to participate in social organisation like TWA to uplift the community. Industrialist Surendra Poojary, Devadiga Sangha, Mumbai president H. Mohandas, Bunts Sangha Mumbai, Educational and Samaja Kalyana Committee Chairman Karnire Vishwanath Sheety spoke on this occasion and highlighted about helping poor students for their further education by sponsoring them for next 5 years.

President Roopesh Rao explained about future plan and educational help. Lazar Kotiyan, Chairman of Education Committee, Govind Manjeshwar Founder President and Umesh Manjeshwar Trustee we also present on the dais. Ishwar M. Ail welcomed the guests and offered vote of thanks. “Badukuna Saadi” a comedy play was staged by Cha Parka team.
